  • RISDA Kedah Director Message

                                                                                          AZMI

    Assalamualaikum W.B.T

All praise to Allah SWT, the most merciful and beneficent, who has given us mercies and blessings to congregate in this social media platform. RISDA has always been entrusted in maintaining growth and viability of the smallholder sector of rubber industries as an important production sector in the national economy.

A Period of one long year has passed as we are entering the second year of the COVID-19, the global pandemic that seems to be unabating at the moment. Without a doubt the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in severe economic and social impacts not just to smallholders of rubber industries but to the whole world. I pray that each of us will be able to get through this pandemic with the help of God.

RISDA has taken a new approach to achieve our vision of "Smallholders Development Leader". In the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK-12), RISDA has taken steps towards our lifelong mission of “Driving a Prosperous Smallholder Community from New Commodity Sources and Revenue Based on the Digital Industrial Revolution and Green Technology”.

All of our smallholders are advised to make use of their land mass to earn as much as possible. With the increase of ‘Rubber Replanting Aid’ scheme to RM13, 710.00 per hectare, we hope that the smallholders are able to sustain their land development via the replantation of rubber trees programme.

In the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK-12), which is a five-year socio-economic blueprint from 2021 – 2025, RISDA has initiated ‘New Commodity Sources’ for high impact agricultural projects such that involves the farming of durian, mango (Harum Manis), and jackfruit (Nangka Madu), as well as high impact livestock projects which includes cattle farming, sheep farming and also stingless bee farming. This is a part of income maintenance strategy for smallholders especially in Kedah, to cover for income loss during the rubber replantation programme and effects of the instability of the global rubber price.

In addition, there are various other ways for smallholders to increase their source of income. All of the information will be updated and available in the website soon.

I hope that the smallholders and related communities are able to utilize the website as a communication and informative medium in engaging and expressing ideas. This will also improve the interactions between RISDA and its smallholders in keeping with the idea to make RISDA a relevant organization for the people.
